“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” is undoubtedly one of the biggest movies of of the year so far and it’s leaving fans young and old with an enjoyable moviegoing experience.
Most film adaptations of video games don’t do well with a few exceptions. The 1995 Mortal Kombat movie was one of the more popular even if much of the plot, dialogue, and jokes felt campy.
Other projects tried to remain faithful to the source material, providing action-packed set pieces without being as impactful as the games themselves, like last year’s “Uncharted” starring Tom Holland.
